Happy Earth Day

Today Mrs. Pratt brought in our trees from our Conservation poster contest. I hope everyone takes these trees home and plants them. This year they brought us the Illinois state tree. Do you know what it is?

Presentations

Today we started presenting out reports. I am amazed at the work they turned in. I am very proud of these students and the effort they put forth these last few weeks.

Take the Pledge to End Bullying

This afternoon students in grades 1st- 4th were invited to an assembly about bullying. Students from Galena and Scales Mound were also there. Everyone was handed a bracelet as we walked in. On the bracelet it said "Bully Free". We watched a video about bullying. Thank you to Jo Daviess County Juvenile Justice team for putting this together for us. It was great!

Lorado Taft

It won't be long now before we pack up and head off to Taft! I am super excited about taking them in this outdoor education overnight field trip.

While we are there we will be busy! We will be involved in sessions all day long! Some sessions include Water Ecology, Pioneering, Orienteering, and Native Americans. We will be hiking through the woods and learning to appreciate nature.

I hope your child is just as excited as I am. I can't wait!!

Endangered Animal Projects

Did you know all white tigers have blue eyes? Did you know the rhino can live 40-45 years? Did you know the Siberian Tiger is the world's largest cat? We are all busy working on our reports. It is fun to learn new things. Each student has taken notes, written a rough draft and now a final draft. Be watching for more facts as we go!

JDRF Walk

Last Friday the entire school participated in a walk to raise awareness of Juvenile Diabetes. We raised over $6100! Everyone had a great time. It is nice to see the students of River Ridge come together for a great event such as this.
