Who Says Learning Can't Be Fun?

This week we had a review test in Language Arts class. Prior to the test, Mrs. Benson brought in some board games that helped reinforce author'a purpose, sequencing and main idea. Some students thought that was the best reading class ever!

Fire Prevention Week

Elizabeth and Hanover fire departments came to school today to help us learn about fire safety. Even though our time was cut a bit short because of weather, we still were able to check out the fire truck, tour the ambulance, and use a hose to shoot at a wooden house with fake flames. Thank you to everyone who helped to make out day a good one.

Busy learners!

We are at the end of our first quarter! One fourth of the way through out year! It's unbelievable! Look and see what we did on our last day if the first quarter.
Caden earned using the bean bag because he had all of his homework done. He earned it playing homeworkopoly!

Midterm? Already?

Yes, it's true! We are already one eighth of the way through the school year. Students are learning what 4th grade is all about. They are in a routine now. Things are beginning to smooth out in our classroom. For the most part, there hasn't been much homework assigned. I know some students feel like they are having a lot. Please remember to let me know if they have more than 30 minutes each night. It might be a case of using time wisely.

Compass Work

Through a lot of determination, we are learning to use our compasses! They aren't as easy as they look, but they sure are fun.

What's My Number?

This afternoon we took a break from our text book to play a game with math facts. Each person had a multiplication or division problem on their back. They had to ask questions to figure out what their answer was. It took a lot of work, but they did it! We did realize our facts were a little rusty. Please continue to practice at home.

Two weeks from today!

Yes! It's almost that time of year where parents send their children back to school. Can I tell you how excited I am? (No, it's not just because I get to send my own four back!) I love this time of year! New beginnings, new experiences, and a lot of fun coming our way. I've been in my room the last few days getting ready. I still have some work to do- but I promise I will be ready for you!

Letting Go

The past 3 weeks we have been raising Painted Lady Butterflies. Thankfully we had better luck with these than we did with the frogs! Friday afternoon we headed outside with the butterflies to release them. Every single one of them flew away.

We started using transparent mirrors today. At first we had a little trouble but after a few minutes we got it!

Take a Breather

This year we have spent some time learning to relax. Mrs. Sisler has taught us many ways to do this including some yoga. It seems to be helping some of our students. Ask them what else they can show you at home.
