A Week in the Woods

Two weeks from today we head to Lorado Taft for our overnight field trip. In order to get ready, we are reading "A Week in the Woods" by Andrew Clements. It is about a teacher who takes  his students on a field trip on the woods. It relates very closely to what we will be doing.

Measuring Our Classroom

Today we worked on floor plans. We measured how far it was from wall to wall and then drew a floor plan to match.

Reading With Thought

Today we did an activity where one person sat on the floor reading a book. Their partner sat behind them and listened. As the had a new thought, the person in the back would tap the person on the floor. The "thought" person would say what they were thinking. This helps us to become better active readers. The students really liked this activity. It was fun to hear what they were thinking as they read.

Fractions!

We are rocking the fractions today! We used pattern blocks to help us learn. It was a fun lesson...until we had to pick up all of the blocks!

Today, we reviewed what it means to leave out tracks while we read. Good readers are always thinking. From the looks of things and how well everything went today, I have some awesome readers in here!
